About Barnyard
In its current incarnation (as of November 2003) Barnyard is a Dell Precision 360 workstation. Previously it was a Dell Precision 610 workstation that replaced the original barnyard, a NeXTstation, in 1999. I use the machine mainly for routine academic stuff -- TeX, email, word processing, maple. It is also a web server for my own pages (obviously,) and for those of Vincent Fatica . for the Mathematics Department and Mathematics Graduate organization. Barnyard also offers anonymous ftp service.
The choice of name reflects my own interest in hobby farming and country life in general. I have an extensive vegetable garden and a small (20) flock of chickens. Here is a recording of my favorite rooster, Webster. (150K .wav)
